4WD Travel - Our Travels
Open style camping on the lake with Fire rings available at every site and great clean ammenities with hot showers. Water sking, fishing or just a day in the sun, Lake Moogerah is a couple of hours south west of Brisbane out on the scenic Rim
Unless you camping in the middle of no where (ie deep in the bush) Camp fires are not always a given when travelling. If camping in a camping ground call ahead if possiable. Heres a couple we recently found. Cathedrals, Dundabra & waddy point on Fraser (only in designated Fire Rings) Neurum Creek, Lake Moogerah, Queen Mary Falls Park all have a fire ring on every site. You can even buy the wood too. Just remember in the summer months fire bans can be in place.
Traveling 5,000kms from Brisbane to Innamincka, Oodnadatta, Mt Dare, crossing the simpson Desert to Birdsville. Iconic Pubs, Roadhouses, historical Ruins, we travel solo through the outback with the kids and a roof top tent.
4hrs north of Brisbane, turn right at childers and drive another 35kms out to the beach. This is a fully self sufficiant style of camping behind low lying dunes and magnifcent views of the ocean. There are no amenaties at this location.
If your just starting out and tents have been your only expierence for camping, then have a look at a swag. They come in many sizes and are much stronger and weather resistant. Try the King or Double swag, a family of 4 will fit comfortably in
2 Double swags. Water before use !
